So I have been helping out a friend build their credit as I have been working on mine. They have a young credit profile that is clean, while mine is a mixed bag of tricks. But more on them.
I tested the SCT for my friend and received the following credit cards.
Overstock- 800
Old Navy- 300
J Crew-1500
Then had them get a secure credit card from discover for 2k.
Then on their own they applied for a shell fuel card, walmart, and amazon.
They were approved for all their credit cards.
Discover -2000
Walmart-900
Shell-300
Amazon-3600
Now each of these accounts are right at 11 months.
Here is the kicker they were approved by going online to the Capital One website and applied for a credit based on what came up as prequalified. It did not approve them, but ask them to call in. When they called in, Capital One just asked a few questions and said thank you it will be one moment.
They approved him for $10,000 I am blown away.
DP's
Income 70k
Credit score Mid 600's across the board
They had only four HP's until the Capital One
They had zero utilization at application time for Capital One, so they have points to be had if he had used some of his credit.
My question, how does this happen with someone with less than a year credit file and so much credit in a year?
Congratulations on your friend's Capital One approval!
Congrats on the DF approval!
Grats to your friend on the 10K SL
Its clear Cap-1 wants to do business with him and that is why the previous accounts he opened and his good history with them led to the 10K out of normally stingy Cap-1. Even I have got 5K approvals out of this bank while holding one of their rebuilders which I closed out in 2013.
Congrats on your friend's Capital One approval . . . sometimes it seems as if there's no rhyme or reason to some credit decisions -and- I've seen that first hand with my daughter's credit situation (she has a 577 FICO Score).
I haven't really seen any Cap1 approvals around 10K in awhile. Big congrats to your friend, they grabbed a nice one!
Congrats on all of your friends' success!
Congratulations on friend's approval!

Do you know if they approve that level SL on subprime cards?
