Capital One QS1 CLI

I recently started building credit. I had no score on CreditKarma. Back in Nov I signed up for the Capital One Secured card. I paid $49 and got a $200 credit limit.

Saw that I had a score of 660 in December and applied for a Capital One Quicksilver One since CK said my odds were goods. I was approved for $300.

My second statement arrived so I hit the luv button just for the heck of it and got approved for $100. I quickly hit accept. I probably should've waited. I was excited though.

So far my spendings are low. I put about $10 a month on my secured card and $100 on my unsecured. Autopay enabled for both cards at due date in full.

I'm pretty late to the whole credit thing. Being 30 and barely starting. Hope to improve my credit and end game goal is to have credit with Capital One , Amex and Discover.

Once my secured card ages a bit I'll try for a product change and if that doesn't work I'll try to merge it with the unsecured.

Re: Capital One QS1 CLI

Congrats, never too late to start.  Just keep your payment history clean and utilization low and in a year you will have all of the limits you will ever need.  I wouldn't combine these accounts until they have substantial limits and even then you may not want to mess with your average age of accounts.   I started my rebulid in mid 2014 with a $300 limit Cap One Platiunum card which is now over 4k and my total CL's are about 100k.  Be patient, apply smartly and you will be in great shape.

Re: Capital One QS1 CLI

That's great OP.  I started with the same CL and it's now grown to 6500.  Treat it well, and cap1 will reward you
