Hi all! So I originally planned to wait until December to try apping for the Chase Freedom because I was pretty sure I was over the 5/24, and would be until that point. But my impatience got the best of me, and I went to check the prequalifier again. I was still prequaled for the Freedom, and I don't know...I threw caution to the wind.
Here's the info:
I was (presumably) at 7/24 at time of application
Torrid - 7/5/14
AMEX BCE - 11/25/14
Discover It - 11/25/14
JcPenney - 2/8/15 (still open, never used)
Victoria's Secret - 5/31/15
Sallie Mae - 7/7/2015
AMEX ED - 9/7/15
I counted my three store cards in this, but I am under the impression that any non-Visa/MC branded store card may not count toward 5/24 since I got an instant approval. (I've read conflicting thoughts about store cards counting, but this is my personal experience and I didn't mind being a guinea pig as I'm not apping for anything major for a very long time. As always, YMMV.)
Slightly disappointed with the SL of $2,500 but I'm psyched to finally have the last major card I planned to app for until I'm able to support the CSP--probably 2-3 years from now, tbh.
I did get the 19.25% APR, which is my highest interest barrring my store cards, but I'm not concerned with that as I always PIF. Planning to use this heavily for the next 3 months to meet the bonus, and then pair it with my Discover IT for rotating categories and my AMEX ED as my general spend card. I'm PUMPED!
Not sure which bureau they pulled yet, as I'm not signed up for myFICO monitoring, but for reference my Amex EX FICO 8 shows 747 as of 6/18 and my Discover TU FICO 8 shows 748 as of 6/4. (UPDATE: Credit Karma and Credit Sesame both show that Chase pulled TU. I had 3 INQ at the time, all of them from 2015. I was surprised, because I expected them to pull EX, which has 5 due to 3 car loans I applied for months apart--long story. Interesting.)
YAY!
Nice.. Enjoy it.
Congratulations!! My Freedom is my favorite card.
yeah my research tends to support that it is only normal credit cards that count - not store-only cards.
Either way, congrats and I am jealous

Interesting datapoint. It would actually make more sense if they were to exclude store cards. If they are just trying to weed out churners with 5/24, store cards wouldn't matter. It will be interesting to see more upcoming results.
Thanks all. I'm very happy about the approval. I am wishing I had waited a little longer because I think a couple cards i just paid to 0 were still reporting balances and that probably would have changed my limit a little, but I'm not too upset about it. $2,500 is plenty for me for now, and if I feel the need for a CLI moving forward, I'll likely be in a place where I can afford the HP. I'm just glad to have gotten in, and that my store cards presumably were not counted.
