Chase AARP despite 5/24

There seem to be divergent views on this forum as to whether Chase's AARP card is subject to the 5/24 rule.

Let me tell you: it isn't.

I just got approved for a 15k SL, and I am about as far over 5/24 as one person could possibly be.

[For data point purposes: my EX FICO 8 was 792, my inquiries were more than I can count, my number of new accounts in past 24 months was probably 15-20.Approval went like this: I first got "30 day" message, a few days later it went to "7-10" days, after about a week I got a letter from the fraud department seeking to ascertain that I was me, after I called the fraud department and satisfied them that I was me they told me I'd been approved with 15k limit.]

Nice one SJ.

Thanks for sharing  about the exclusion part for members who might now know that too.

This is one of the Chase cards I been looking to bring home for awhile and actually could anytime but am waiting to cross a new AAOA threshold first which looks to be in 2017 now.

With a new found patience I decided to wait.

Wow I'm impressed with that self discipline. Wish I had some of that Smiley Happy

I too should be restraining my impulses, but I'm not much good at that.

Re: Chase AARP despite 5/24

Congrats! I was one that posted that it was subject to 5/24 due to being told that by an unhelpful recon line agent. Luckily I got my Fairmont card approved after 4 recon attempts. Glad to hear that this card is in fact not included!
