So I was gonna make a big purchase on Amazon last week and the $70 gift card lured me in. Pulled the trigger on 4/12/2018 and there popped the 30-day message. Called in a CSR and was told they needed to verify my SSN and gave me the fax/mail option. I chose the fax option and sent the ssn on 4/13. Called in today to see if there is any update - the CSR kept me on hold for a couple of minutes and came back with an approval with a SL of $8200. Got an email immediately which says that the $70 gift card is loaded to my account and that my initial limit before I activate the card is $5k. Also read the cardholder agreement which lists my APR at 20.49%
Here is the timeline of events
4/12 - Apped and got the 30-day message. Called in and was asked to send the proof of my SSN for verification
4/13 - Faxed in my SSN
4/16 - Called in to check and was approved for $8.2k
