Re: Chase Freedom -- denied, worth a recon?

Just make sure you are calling the actual backdoor number. I would almost be tempted to tell you to ask for a Supervisor or Senior Credit Analyst. To chime in on what the others are saying...who cares what they think or how many times they say No...keep calling. I got approved for a Freedom with way less credit score and AAOA of 6 months! Took me 3 times/maybe four calling in to speak with senior people!!! Like I said don't waist a good HP when you have a very VERY good recon shot!

Current Scores: EX - 728 FICO (5/11/13) TU - 771 FICO (7/02/13) EQ ??

Current Cards: Chase Freedom $5,000, CSP $5,700, BofA Visa Signature $15,000, AMEX BCE $6,000, Walmart $4,150, Gap Visa $10,000, JC Penny $5,800, Lowes $8,500, Dillard's AMEX $8,000, AMEX Hilton HHonors - $2,000, Chase United $12,000, Citi AAdvantage & Simplicity $6,000/$6,000, SPG AMEX $1,000

Hi guys, I just got denied by Chase Freedom, I thought I'd apply because of all the success I've seen lately.

I was denied for:

Length of time on accounts that have been established (1 year 3 months)

Too many inquiries in the last 12 months (2, 1 from a credit union to open an account and one from Amex)

Balances too high compared to credit limites (20% utilization)

My question is, is it worth trying to recon this? I kind of expected the denial because my low history

They pulled EX and said my score was 728.

Boo Chase, that's ridiculous if you ask me. And exactly why I'm done forking my pennies over to them.

I don't mind those letters, I usually just toss them anyways. I really wanted to get a second card started so I can have at least 2 cards to help with my AAoA later on. But I really don't want any more hard inquires on my EX. Seems like no one pulls EQ or TU :/

Try for a GE store account (JCP, Old Navy) they primarily pull TU.

I agree! GE is easier to get in with and your CLs will grow without the need for HPs. Try them out!

Here is the number I called and got an approval from. Don't know if it is the "go to" for backdoor number but it worked for me! 1-888-270-2127. Hope this helps Smiley Wink And yes I did call 3 times!! Thanks to the advice of my fellow myfico helpers Smiley Happy

This is so odd to me.  For me, I had about 20 inquiries (most were for an auto loan in January, but at least 3 otherwise), AAoA was 8 months and my score was a 707.  I don't understand wh you would not qualify if I did.  It only took me one recon, and the guy almost instantly approved me after looking at my report.  My utilization was only 1%, but 20% isn't that high.  Sometimes it seems like these people just randomly throw a dart at a board to make their decision.
