My Freedom (now Freedom Unlimited) has never received a CLI, even when I attempted a HP CLI last year. I don't have much fatih in it growing beyond its starting limit, so I PC'd the card to the Freedom Unlimited, and started thinking about how I could maximize my relationship with Chase.
Recently, my Experian has been cleaned up a fair bit, and I decided to app the Amazon.com Visa Signature card. I currently have the store card with a $5K limit. I've been eyeballing the Chase card since it got a nice upgrade, but I've held off. I've seen so many people end up with $500 - $2,500 SL's, and didn't want to end up in the same bucket. I did the application from Amazon.com, for the $70 giftcard bonus.
Instant approval, with a decent $5K SL! 19.74% APR (will be 19.99% after today's prime rate adjustment).
Ok, so that's pretty great, but how can I get that Freedom Unlimited to a decent limit? Well, I looked at Chase's other offerings, and saw the AARP. This card intrigued me a couple of years ago, because there aren't a lot of 3% CB restaurant cards easily available. Eating out, groceries, and gas are my three biggest expenses, so I could see benefit to having it. After thinking it over (I went to lunch to clear my head), I decided to apply.
Instant approval, with a nice $9K SL! Now my highest major limit, and highest SL! 20.74% APR (will be 20.99% after today's prime rate adjustment).
The eventual goal is to take $6,500 from the AARP and move it to the FU, and throw the rest at the Amazon.com card.
I added $14K from stingy (towards me, anyways) Chase in less than two hours. I've been on quite the credit journey in the last couple of months:
Amex PRG - NPSL
Amex ED - $500 (anomaly, but hope it will grow eventually...)
Discover IT - $4,500
DCU Visa - $7,400
Chase Amazon - $5,000
Chase AARP - $5,000
Cap 1 CLI to $7,350
BoA CLI to $6,300
Lowes CLI to $17,000
I won't say I'm in the garden, because I have one more card to app for - Capital One Venture. That seedling is there until May
Nice additions! Grats!
Congratulations DeeBee78 on your Chase approvals! You're having an awesome week!!
That's a really good 2 fer there for ya.
It's been said for years on here that the best and safest way to grow Chase Cards is to add them then move the limits.
Congrats!!

Congrats!!
I'm ever-hopeful of a SP or automatic CLI on the Freedom Unlimited
That Prime card is so **bleep** pretty. Someday ~~
Congrats! I know we've discussed similar experiences with CapOne in the past and now it seems we have Chase in common also. My Freedom turned 10 in January - lowest APR but had a $3k limit until I combined it with a slightly older (2004?) Slate that I closed to make it $4200 about a year ago. On New Years Eve, I took the HP for the CLI and was denied then saw that I had "Offers" when I logged into my account and was instantly approved for CSP with $12k and lowest APR. Called to recon the CLI on the Freedom after the holiday and was told by the analyst that I should be approved for it, that they were sending it up the ladder and I'd know within a week. Then got the letter stating I was denied in part due to the new CSP. So you're not alone with it being stuck, but glad that you have the new accounts to shuffle around the CLs!
Good luck with the Venture - I was quite surprised to not get it. That was my first denial on an app in many years.
You showed Chase who is boss! Nice approvals!! I looooveee my Prime card!
OP congrats! they kind of did the same to me, I applied for the Fairmont card once it was announced to be going away and they made me wait for 2 weeks before denying saying they need to see more history with my existing Chase cards (which were almost a year old mind you).
A month later, boom instant 15.6k Ritz approval online
Chase certainly is a strange bunch.
