I'd been wanting and dreading to apply for a Chase card. I've had an IHG card with them that started at $2K but has been sitting at a limit of $4k for years. I never wanted to take a hard pull for an increase. And that Vantage score on their site always looks horrible for me.
Since I was sitting at 1 inquiry in the last 24 months with FICO scores in the 750's, I figured why not. I have promotional debt but my track record is pretty decent. And that one inquiry was for a car lease. I submitted the application and in seconds received a message of DECLINE. We're sorry.... blah, blah, blah. I had planned on closing the IHG card anyway so I called and did that. While on the phone I remembered reading here about the reconsideration line. I was transferred, told the CSP application was eligible for reconsideration and placed on hold.
After answering a couple of questions, the representative came back on the line and said, 'I'm happy to say you are approved for $14K'
Yes! That sign up bonus is amazing and now I know that Chase doesn't actually hate me. Thanks myFICO for the info as I could have easily accepted the decline and walked away with nothing but a hard pull.
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on your approval!
Nice, a recon that ended up worthwhile, grats on it and to a very useful card
