My 20yo DD was recently approved for a Chase Sapphire Preferred with a $5,000 SL!
My 24yo DD recently got the CSP herself after a pre-approved Green Star offer on her account, and my 20yo DD used a referral to apply. The 20yo has had a Black Star pre-qualified on her Chase Freedom account for a while now, so the hope was she would be approved with the referral (a $200 bonus for my other DD!).
My 20yo filled out the app along with her $16k annual income and then hit the submit button... Chase thought about it for a while and then popped up with a message asking if she had any additional income she wanted to claim. We both were like "uh oh" and figured it would be a denial. She continued on with the app and the lowly $16k income, and Chase surprisingly came back with an approval for $5k!
ETA: Chase did a double HP, they also pulled EQ.
Some DP's:
- 20yo college student with $16k income
- Chase pulled EX, and EX8 was 790 at that time (the EX inquiry only dropped her score to a 787... a 3 point loss)
- Chase also pulled EQ, and EQ8 was also 790 on 8/1.
- EX inquiries (# of inquires / months): 0/12, 2/24
- EQ inquiries: 0/12, 1/24
- # of new CC accounts: 0/12, 3/24
- She had 5 CC's at the time of application (Disco Chrome Student, AMEX BCP, NFCU MR, NFCU Plat, Chase Freedom)
- TCL = $45k
- Average CL = $9k
- AAoA = 1y 6m
- AoOA = 2y 6m

I wish I had started my credit when I was that age. My parents weren't as credit-savvy back then....good for you helping them both out of the gate!

Awesome news for both DD's. I have been guiding my DD's as well and now my DD's Boyfriend wants me to help him. Kudos to you for teaching them early the importance of credit and by the way....Great credit scores as well. Keep up the great work.
