I've been sitting on a mailer for a United MileagePlus card for a week or so. My scores, according to myFico, are hovering right around 650 (7 paid medical collections, one charge-off from @5 years ago, multiple lates on one card, the most recent of which is 2014). I had been debating applying for the card next month, then refinancing an auto loan in November (originally purchased at 14.99% APR, ouch!). Real life intervened such that I ended up buying a new car last week. My APR on the new car is 3.49% through a local credit union. When the finance department pulled my FICO scores, Experian was 718 - heck of a lot higher than the 651 I see on myFICO! So I figured I might as well bite the bullet and apply for the MileagePlus card, as I have quite a bit of travel coming up this year. App'd, got the 7-10 day message online, and a 30-day e-mail. Called the automated line in the sticky, and got the 7-10 day message. Called back to talk to a human, who said I was declined for too many inquiries, some late payments, and so on - no real surprises. I said the inquiries are from a new auto loan, and my recent payment history is quite good; she then offered to take another look. She asked for my income and monthly rent payment, put me on hold, then came back a few minutes later with an approval for $5,000!!! I'm so happy!!!!! I'm in with a Real Bank!!!! And driving back to the Garden Club in my brand-new 2016 Honda Pilot!
Congrats on your recon'd approval and your new Honda!!!
Nice, congrats on your success!
