Chase finally let me in...

BK 7 in 2011. Burned just about every bank, including Chase.

I applied for a Chase Amazon last year, and got a 500 SL after a recon. No automatic CLIs even after charging a lot through it and paying several times the balance in a month because I ran out of CL. Always pay in full. No auto CLI love for me yet since opening in March 2017.

A couple of weeks ago, I applied for a CSP and Freedom Unlimited on the same day. Got the usual 7-10 day wait on the CSP, and automatically declined for Freedom. I called to recon CSP first and after a LONG wait on the phone, analyst said he needed to call me back to continue his review. He called me 15 minutes later, and said he tried everything but couldn't give me the card because it required a minimum of $5k SL. I really thought he was going to approve me, I could almost smell the metal, but nope...

I was ready to give up on Chase altogether, but I remembered he said other cards required just a $500 credit line, like the Freedom. So I figured, what the hell... one more recon and then bury Chase for good. This time, the recon was pretty quick. Analyst said he'd recommend an approval for the minimum amount of $500, but would still need a supervisor's approval. Decision in 2 days or so. I said that's fine. Just let me in. A week went by, I didn't get a call or notification, I thought my app was dead. So, I called just for the hell of it, and they told me the verification department was just waiting to verify some info. They patched me through, and she approved the Freedom for $500.

Although I don't really need Chase, I kinda needed this to continue my road to full recovery. 3 more years and my BK should fall off.

So, 2 Chase cards with $500 limits each. Kinda laughable but I'm in at last.

Some other data:

I have a few cards with limits over $10k, and one at $33k.

Credit score was 751 Experian. Based on the denial letters I got from Chase.

10 inquiries on Experian. 11 now with Chase.

Spotless history since BK.

I don't carry balances.

Six figure income.

Current mortgage and auto loans at prime rate. 3 paid car loans.

AMEX HATES me. Blacklisted for good, it seems.

Re: Chase finally let me in...

In 6 months of good payments on your new chase cards you can take a HP of you want and get both the chase limits raised. It seems like your profile and income support it. They bumped my amazon from 2k to 6.5k which is over 3x.

Congrats on the approvals!!!!

Re: Chase finally let me in...

I’d say this debunks the rumor that chase will no longer approve a card even on recon if you have a reporting BK never mind one they were included in. GOOD job OP!

Re: Chase finally let me in...

Hey a very big congrats on getting back in with Chase iMax!

I’m in the same situation as yours. Burned Chase on BK7 dc in 2011 as well. Actually been thinking about app’ing for one of their cards but just not sure if I can take the 45mins to 1hr phone interrogation aka recon by them for a $500 SL. I know. I know. Just to get a foot on the door. We’ll see as I have the Citi DC on my sights in about 10 days from now.

Major congrats for getting back in! Your CL should start to improve soon. I really dont understand why the showed you no love, but with your persistance, that should not be a problem. Congratulations on your re-build.

Re: Chase finally let me in...

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the support. It's been a long and difficult journey, but I feel like I'm almost there. If only AMEX would take me off their naughty list now Smiley Very Happy

I haven't asked for a CLI on the Amazon card because I honestly don't want to waste a hard pull for a single card I don't even see myself using much. I basically use it for Amazon purchases strictly, and the many times the amount exceeded $500, I'd just use the Amazon Store card that has a pretty comfy line, and same 5% cash back. It's their loss, really.

But now with the Freedom, I can afford to ask for a CLI and double up on the same pull. I'll wait a few months and do a double CLI. My final goal is to get the 2 Freedoms and a Sapphire in my name. We already have those under my wife's name with high credit lines, but I want to be able to get them in mine. Baby steps...

Re: Chase finally let me in...

Congrats. That’s two different members in 24 hours that included Chase in the bankruptcy. Yours is the first “confirmed” approval. The other member was recommended for approval on the Chase Amazon Visa.

Kudos and thanks for the data points!

Re: Chase finally let me in...

I burned Chase in 2009 with a CO

They let me back in last Friday with the Freedom Unlimited at $4.5k.

I went into the branch opened a checking & savings acct with one of their $500 SUB mailers and since they pulled my Credit ex & tu I asked for the FU and was approved before I left.

You're saying they pulled your credit for savings and checking? I'd not heard that before. I did the same thing to get the cash bonus for banking with them, and they definitely did not pull my credit when opening the accounts. Regardless, you got a card out of it and with a very good SL. I hope to get mine up in the next few months.
