Not for my profile but the significant other just got approved for a Freedom card with a SL of $500. She has zero lates, 1 inquiry, high average age of accounts, and moderate utilization. She also has a Chase Sapphire Preferred. Her FICO is hovering around 740.
Without knowing all her details, it’s hard to say why they only gave her only a $500 SL while having a Sapphire with over 5K. She hasn’t applied for any credit cards other than an AmEx Business card for work so that shouldn’t count against her other than the inquiry. She hasn’t applied for any new cards for awhile.
Anyone ever get a small SL with Chase while having a Chase Sapphire and the rest of their cards with decent spending limits?
Thats usually a sign that she barely got approved. She is probably close to her internal credit limit. She could always move credit from her CSP to her Freedom. Maybe her income does not support another high SL.

Good point Harvey. That very well could be the case. How does that affect her going forward getting auto cli and cli once she brings her util down? She was 765 a few months ago.
Once she brings her util down she could have a better outcome. Chase is a very conserative lender. Keep in mind that all CLI requests with them are hard pulls. She probably should have waited until her util reported lower and she may have gotten a 5K or higher SL.

What is her current utilization percentage?
