Citi DC CLI (7.6k to 10.5k)

My current credit line is: $10,500 January 11th, 2018.

My starting credit line was: $4,600 July 1st, 2016.

First CLI: January 1st, 2017. $4,600 --> $6,100 = $1,500 CLI.
Second CLI: July 8th, 2017. $6,100 --> $7,600 = $1,500 CLI.

Third CLI (Automated): January 11th, 2018. $7,600 --> $10,500 = $2,900 CLI.

CLI was soft pull. I didn't request this increase, it happened after I made a payment on the 11th of January 2018 and I didn't notice until today January 14, 2018.
As usual I spent over $1,000 every month and paid in full before the statement cut.

This was a surprise CLI from Citi and it was a soft pull, I called up the CSR to confirm and get the exact date it happened. I received my Citi DC on July 1st, 2016 and my first CLI on January 1st, 2017. It’s been over a year and 6 months now with this card and I have used it to my advantage. I believe this CLI happened since it has been over 180 days since my last CLI. It's a great increase as well, they almost doubled what I was given in the past when I made the request myself. Since I haven't made a third official request for a CLI, I will wait until July 18th, 2018 and make a request and hopefully have a 12k limit then.

When I applied for my first credit card (Chase Freedom, $500 CL) over the phone on Dec 2014, I never thought I would have multiple CC's all with CL's 5k or more. I never thought I would get a CLI that was almost 6 times higher than my first credit cards credit limit. I never thought I would be able to add family members as AU's and rise their credit scores and help them. Learning how to manage credit cards properly is surely a great thing to do. I will also always continue to thank the MyFico forums for really letting me see how it all works.

A Big Thank you to everyone that posts or reads.
The more you learn the better chance you'll be able to help yourself or someone else in the future.

It's been over 3 years since I obtained my first credit card and I've come so far in my understanding and milestones. Remember keep patient and stick to your game plan that's the key. I wish you all the best in your own journeys, goals and milestones.

Question:

How long did it take to get your first CLI on your Chase Freedom?

Do you recall for how much the first increase was? and

if it was auto or did you request?

Curious as I started with $500 on my CF  but it wasn't not my first card  -  it was due to a 10yr old CO that I forgotten about before  apping. I am trying to learn more about their behavior when they give $500 SL

OH! And of course Congrats on all the other accomplishments in the past 3 years!

Re: Citi DC CLI (7.6k to 10.5k)

To keep it simple, Chase barely does Auto CLI but they did for me after I got another CC with them. The first CLI I requested for my Chase Freedom only got me a 1k increase and I requested 10k and I waited a year. It was a hard pull though to get 1k which felt bad at the time. Then after I got my Chase Sapphire Preferred, they gave me an auto CLI of 2.5k which brought me up to 4k and I moved 1k from my Chase SP, which brought me up to 5k on my Chase Freedom. Re: Citi DC CLI (7.6k to 10.5k)

Congratulations on the citi auto love.   Citi is a lender that I desire a card from, but at this time I cannot justify applyong for a card.

Re: Citi DC CLI (7.6k to 10.5k)

Yeah I usually only get one or two new cards every 6 months. I haven’t gotten a new card in over a year now because no other ones spark my interest much. I feel after a certain amount of cards we end up just chasing sign up bonuses and don’t even care about the benefits of the card. I barely use my Discover card or regular chase freedom because there mostly for category spend. I try to avoid having to sock draw any cards so i understand a little when you say you can’t justify getting another card.
