I tried the preapproval for Citi cards and was offered the Double Cash, Premier and Rewards+. All with 0% BT with 3% fee for 15 months. The Rewards+ was also 0% on purchases for 15 months.
I wasn't looking for a points transfer card and the 0% on both purchases and a BT were enticing. I wasn't 100% certain how solid the preapproval was even with a solid APR instead of a range. I said to myself "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" and applied. I was rather shocked that it came back with an instant approval! What really set off the squealing was the CL of $3,300. I know that isn't much to many on here but my previous high limit was only $1,250 on a Capital One Quicksilver (which hasn't a CLI in 2 years). I was certain it would be a $500 or $1,000 CL if I were to be approved. I went from $3,800 in available credit to $7,100.
I applied for the card last week and today I got a credit alert that a new card was added to my Experian report. I went to check and not only was it added, my score has increased 10 points as a result of my utilization dropping from 24% to 13%.
I wish I could give everyone here a hug and a thank you. From the hundreds of posts I've read full of data points to all of the people who have PM'd me information and advice, this forum (and its users) has been an amazingly helpful resource.
Congratz on the card. I know Citi DC or PayPal CB is on my list to get but that will be a while.
In the meantime, my highest line before July is 2,300 and Best Buy (Co Citi) shocked me by giving me a 3,000 CL when I had 42% ult on my file. :eyes:
At the moment, I am charging up, waiting for my CU to update the 2k CLI, and waiting for Dec to come so I can take another stab at Amex for the 3x CLI.
That had to feel good! Congratulations
on expanding your credit horizons.
Enjoy your success,
Cheers
Congrats OP
