Citibank Double Cash Card - INSTANT APPROVAL!

I'm totally psyched! After getting depressed about my recent Discover application, which I received the 5-7 day message on and still cannot access my application status online (keep receiving error message), I decided to cheer up and try one more application out and not even worry about the HP since it only dings you a few points anyways.

I really had my eye on the Citi Double Cash Card to be my everyday, go-to card. The 2% cash back on all purchases was really appealing to me. Since I PIF every month, I am not as interested in the 0% introductory APR's. I actually already have one of those anyway with my Amex ED card, but that card does not offer as high of a percentage in cash back on all purchases and so explains why I was interested in the Citi DC.

I went ahead and cold apped and was totally stunned. My data points are below and I do have one bad repo from 4 years ago, but now have a positive auto finance account with no late payments for 2 straight years. I have no other baddies. I was hoping for a $1K SL as I received with Amex and would have been perfectly happy with this, for I am planning on going back to gardening after this. To my surprise, results on the cold app for Citibank DC Card is below. Even the APR is much better than anything I currently have among my other three cards.

INSTANT APPROVAL - $6.1K SL - 20.99% APR

Just wanted to share the good news and hope this information helps someone out and give back to the community, since I have received nothing but wonderful feedback on here myself. Also interested to know, has anyone else had very generous SL's with Citibank like this?

On a side note as well, I've only had my oldest credit card for one year as of this month, which is my Cap1 Plat. I guess my hard work is finally paying off! I thought my biggest credit limit would for sure have been with Amex first, for I am submitting my first 3X CLI request allowed with them, 60 days from account opening, on Monday. Will let you all know how that goes as well!

Oh and P.S. - I'll let you know what ends up happening with that Discover application as well, since it seems my experience is quite unique and several other forum members have had issues with them and their online application system. I've decided to let it run its course and see what happens. Hopefully my info can add to the help in reviews.

Congratulations on the DC approval!! Very nice SL from Citi.

I know you said you PIF, but you could go ahead and see about getting the APR reduced.  Took me about 5 different chats, but I had them lower mine bit by bit down to the lowest possible APR for the card.  Only had the card a few days when they started giving me reductions

Thanks for that feedback! I think once my card gets here and I set up my online account, I'll try working on that. You never do know when you'll need to make payments on your balance and lower interest sure is nice when that does happen!

Your crazy for not worrying about your disco app .Especially if you took a HP .I couldn't check my app status on mine either so I called in and they told me I had a $10k SL. I almost fainted lol. Needless to say if you took the HP don't be scared to call in and ask what's up. Worse thing they can say is you got denied .And at that point you can ask them for a manual review and they'll Probaly give you $1k SL if you need a manual review .Many ppl have had such luck of getting a denial overturned if necessary .But on another note major congrats and nice SL on the citi double cash!

I'm still working on Disco. They haven't HP'd me at all yet so I don't know what's going on with them. I'm calling again here in a bit and asking them to send me to someone who can manually review it over the phone. Thanks for the input and encouragement though because I've been told many are happy with their Disco cards 

Will give everyone an update here in a bit once I find out. Determined to get an answer this time!

UPDATE ----

Soooo glad I listened to all my fellow forum members. Finally called Disco back to find out BOTH applications had cancelled out and so there was nothing pending at all for review. Representative was so helpful and transferred me straight to a Team Associate who could process my information over the phone and RESULTS??

INSTANT APPROVAL - $6.5K SL!!!

Card expedited and will receive in 3-5 business days!

Lesson: Anyone waiting with that 5-7 day message, make sure you're communicating with them to find out the status of your application. It may take a bit, but it's worth it in the end.
