But for people who already have 10 or 20+ cards, do you really need to create a new thread about your $500 CLI on one of them, or your approval for another card? I mean, what can anyone really say other than "congrats"? You aren't rebuilding, it's not as much of an "achievement" anymore. I don't say this to be rude; it's a reason I don't make threads for my CLIs or such. I just feel it's kind of pointless.
I just feel like the threads are kind of limited in the type of response you can get. I understand not wanting blanket congrats but for most cases, what is there to really say? If there are unusual circumstances surrounding the approval that might help others as a reference point, I get it, but making a new thread for every small increase or card just lends itself to spam congrats unfortunately.
I'd like to say "big deal" to a lot of them. $200 CLI....wow.
To some that is a big accomplishment and something for them to be proud of. Its all relative to the stage of your build/rebuild, income and other factors so they have every right to be happy as well and share their enjoyment/experiences along with data points
As with everything in life we all can agree and disagree but that's what made this Country great to have freedom of speech and expression no matter how silly someone thinks it made be.
So there is the good, bad and ugly on these forums but all in all it's good.
I don't mind people starting CLI threads, but I strongly feel they should contain data points so that people can actually learn from them both now and months (or years) from now with the search function. For example, I started one yesterday. My goal wasn't to solicit "congratulations" but rather to provide useful data to others with a similar profile, score or more specifically a similar SL on the same card. Here's the thread I started yesterday:
I personally believe a thread such as this is far more meaningful than a one-liner stating "I got a CLI from X to Y today!"
Basically, if the entire body of your thread can be written in the subject line, there really isn't much purpose to it as it doesn't contain any substance.
Wow, I never thought I'd see someone actually address this on this forum.
Even more surprising is the people who are standing up for the "Congrats!" spammers.

Same goes for new accounts. Saying that you got New Card X with absolutely no data points (SL, scores) serves no real purpose
other than to boast. Always nice to know how many inquiries were present, and the puller (for the newbies or oddball cards).
The forums exist to learn from one another!

@Anonymous wrote:I got it, thank you for explaining. I do on occasion just write "Congrats". I will be mindful not to do that anymore if it's against the rules. Thanks for the inforation and explaining.
If I'm understanding the OP correctly, posting it occasionally would not be a violation.
Correct. There's nothing wrong with brevity. And if all you have to say is a simple "congrats," that's well within our FSR guidelines. The issue is when the same response is given over and over and over as a means to inflate post count.
@Anonymous wrote:I know this sounds stupid, but I'm serious, what is thread bombing? Forgive me for not having a clue what this means.
Perfectly valid question. Outside of our Forum, it refers to repeated posts (typically, memes) in a thread as a means of derailing the conversation. In the Forum, it typically refers to multiple posts either within one board or across the Forum that are repetitive. I will update the sticky title to help clarify.
