Sharing this in case it helps someone else in the community. I applied for membership and the 6.17% savings account with DCU on the 7th. A few days later I spoke to a CSR about a minor issue I was having with logging into their website to access my account. I mentioned that I'm interested in their credit products and she had me call their loan department at 1-800-328-8797 extension 9150. The person I spoke with at that number approved me for the Platinum card with a SL of $10,000 and a rate of 9.50% - my highest starting line and lowest cc interest rate ever. 
I was really surprised because I don't think I have a very strong profile, but I'm happy that DCU doesn't agree with me!
My DP’s at the time of application:
EQ5 - 717
Chex - 584
Util - 17%
DTI - 14%
Inquiries - 6/6, 8/12, 16/24
New Accounts - 16/24
Student Loans - $137K
No baddies

I should mention that DCU didn't provide me with my Chex score - I ordered it directly from Chexsystems after reading here that the Chex score has been an obstacle for others with DCU in the past. Chexsystems didn't charge me for the score though the score is only delivered via mail, no online delivery option. From what I've been able to ascertain, anything above 580 is a "safe" Chex score even though the metric goes up to 899.
I'm off to the garden for at least the next 15 months, but wishing you all success.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have a car loan look at them for a Refi. They have by far the best rates that I have found. I got a refi from Navy at about 6% went to DCU and got that cut down to 2.7% and my score was around 680!
