So I'm pretty sure I just beat 5/24. I was approved for the Freedom Unlimited with a $6,200 credit line.
Here are the last 5 accounts I opened, based on my credit report:
My FICO is in the 790-810 range. I use Chase as my primary checking account, and currently have the CSP, Freedom, and Southwest Premier cards.
My two theories: First, the Amazon store card didn't count. Second, I clicked through from my CreditKarma account (which rated my approval chances as Very Good, and had the same $150 bonus offer). Or maybe I just got lucky and Chase didn't count 5/24 against me.
Been a good haul over the past week. Approved for two BofA MLB cards ($200 CB each), the Amex BCE ($150 CB plus 10% off wireless), and now the Freedom Unlimited ($150 CB plus $25 AU).
Your case is fairly borderline with the store card and the fact that you are at exactly 5/24. Almost all of the "I beat 5/24!" points are people who were very borderline. I have to date seen zero people who were far over 5/24 and got approved anyway.
This isn't to take anything away from you, just an observation.

The way everyone describes 5/24 is "5 or more cards in the last 24 months is an auto-reject; everything counts including store cards." If more borderline cases are popping up, then 5/24 may no longer be as strict as it once was.
when I tried to recon a Chase Marriott card, the gentlmen on the phone had told me they didn't really count store cards in the 5/24 rule...IDK if I believe him or not
