Received an email that said, "congratulations, your credit limit has increased" from discover. I had requested a discover CLI multiple times in the last year and just gave up. Every time I would just get a no. Then out of the blue I get this. My CL went from $4,000 to $6,000. I'll take it.
I was however annoyed with Amex. My chase cards have decent CL and Capital One (between $8,000 and $9,000). But my Amex Hilton Surpass card has sat at $4,000 for a year. I tried to get a CLI on the website a few months ago and got a flat out no, I was trying the 3x and didn't even get a counter. The only reason I can think is I let a large purchase post on a credit card statement and my credit dropped 60 pts (to 670) due to utilization the same month I applied for the CLI. I paid it off and the next month my fico went back to 735.
So I called Amex last night to upgrade to the Aspire Card which I had an invite to. I stay in Hilton properties 180 nights a year. So this card makes tons of sense for me. Last year even during covid I received over a million Hilton Honor points through my Amex based upon spend. While I was on the phone, I thought I would go ahead and ask them how often I could request a CLI. She said you have to wait three days after a denial. For some reason I thought you had to wait months. So, it had been a few months since I got that denial and I thought I might as well try. She asked how much I wanted, I said $12,000 (it was currently $4,000). She asked a couple questions about income and assets. Then she said ok, lets submit. 2 seconds later she said congratulations, your new credit limit is $12,000.
So pretty happy with the $10,000 cli between the two cards. Brings my credit card CL to $42,500. I put about $12,000-$15,000 a month on credit cards but never let it hit my statements. So, my utilzation is always around 1%.
A little context. I didn't use credit cards for 20 years. Thought they were bad. I was neieve. So, I only recently started getting credit cards. Last year I received over $10,000 in value from cash back, points, etc. Money I was spending anyway. Never paid a dime of interest. Only badie is a collection from sprint for $114 from years ago. Actually fell off today. They screwed me and I wouldn't pay out of principle. I know, only hurt myself. They don't give a crap.

Congrats on the double approvals. That is a rare Discover auto-cli (other than within first year).
