For those unaware, in order to combine two Discover cards, one has to be eligible for a credit line increase. Fortunately, if one is, one can have both their cake and eat it, too!
I had two cards, an IT Chrome (acted as a rebuilder from 2015) that masterfully grew to $2,200 from $500, and an IT Cash Back, opened a few months ago with 15-months no interest, sitting at $3,500. After waiting the obligatory 3-months post-opening for my first CLI request, I called in and asked nicely.
I was approved for a whopping +$500 and because of that, I could also combine my cards. I moved the entirety of my Chrome card over and closed it out, resulting in a grand total on this new card of $6,200. In my head, that seems like a killer amount for Discover, especially in my shoes. I have no need for all of it as I only use the card for categories, but it's good to know it's there in case I find a need for $6,000 worth of Amazon.com crap this quarter
Congratulations and thanks for sharing the info!
