Discover IT Cash Back Approval

I checked my FICO score Discover Jad and they reported it as 715. I figured it’s mighty time to check the pre-app page and there they were. The Miles and Cash Back cards. Chose the cash back card and was approved for a SL of $3,500. Higher than my Chrome sitting at $1,700.

What do I do with my Chrome card, now? 😬 any tips on making this card grow like a madman?

Super Congrats on your Discover It Cash Back approval!

Discover Chrome and Discover Secured are starter cards. But now that you've

been approved for Cash Back, you might consider asking Discover to roll over

your $1,700 Chrome CL into your Cash Back card. You'd end up with $5,200 on

your Cash Back, you could close your Chrome, and then go after another Disco

card in 3-6 months. Just a suggestion. I'm sure others in the forum much smarter

than I am will chime in as well. Once again, congrats on your new card!

I'm not sure the Chrome is a starter card. It is an actual Discover card that many choose over the It at times. You need to have your Discover card at least a full year before getting a second card. You now have 2 which is the maximum amount of Discover cards you can have at once.

Combining the two is possible but as for the time frame I think @pizza1 can help explain better than me.

As for growing it monster. Just use and pay. No one here can tell you how it will grow only Discover knows. No true method has been proven. Congrats again and enjoy

Congrats on your Disco it approval! This is by far my favorite card in my wallet, aside from my Citi DC. Citi has shown me much luv and I'm hoping Disco will too here shortly.

The hardest part for me is putting this card into rotation. I have a host of cash back cards already so it’d only be useful for the categories and those categories will compete with my Costco Visa. I’ve already made my membership back for the year so the cycling based on category won’t be s huge deal... there’ll just be some tracking involved.

And I’d love to be able to combine my two cards, too. It looks like having a CLI available is one of the prerequisites? I submitted for one and got the 2-day message. Perhaps I’ll bring it up when they call and offer a measly $200 🙈

First, much congrats on the approval!! Next, if you've had your Chrome card for a year, then in order to combine them, you need to have a CLI available online. Im sure that the 2-day message won't qualify that. Historically, the 2-day message could render a CLI by manual review, but as of late, its been hit and miss for folks.

My suggestion would be to keep both cards until you have a CLI available online on your Chrome card, (not by MR), then call the back door #, and ask to combine your limits, and close out Chrome. They will not only combine the two, but they will also give you the CLI as well.

Easier said than done.. One must be able to get the sometimes elusive CLI to pop-up sigh.. . Other than that pizza is correct although it is a royal PITA to do
