Finally got back in with Discover (defaulted on a card 6 years ago, ended up settling a year after).
I did the preapproval, but since I checked off that I was a student, I only got a pre for the Student cards but with 12.99 APRs. So I figured to give the regular IT a spin since the APR they were giving me was the best for the student cards, I must have a good shot. Until now, I couldn't get any preapprovals, the latest were "too many new accounts" or "too many inquiries" (even for a secured card).
Last night, I applied and immediately got a message telling me to thaw Experian and to hit submit again. I did and quickly got a message asking to upload ID. Just got a message that I was approved, SL $3,000 APR unknown. Current EX 737, 5 new accounts in the last 12 months, 8 inq, 3 lates (all last year) and my charged off/settled Discover card is still on my Experian (and only Experian) until next December.
I'm really gonna enjoy the 5% + 5% cash back for the next year.
I think I will officially garden now. My next goal is getting in with Chase once I'm clear of 5/24, and Amex.
