Applied 2 days ago for the Alaska Air as I do quite a bit of travel out west and it went to review. Called in immediately to only learn that it eventually became a denial due to a previous BoA account. No surprise. So, I asked for a reconsideration and pleaded my case to the hilt. I defintely put my best case forward on this one..
I decided to check the app status, hoping for the worst -- another denial. However, it seems my fortunes have changed:
I was amazed, to say the least. I quickly called in to make sure....Yep. It was approved. Not only was I approved for $9K, which is quite decent, but it was also for the lowest rate of 12.74%. Unbelievable. I almost never get a card's best rate.
Some background: roughly 5 years ago I had a joint BoA LOC opened with my then Ex because their credit couldn't qualify so I did what any supportive spouse does, I joined as a co-applicant to secure it. Things with sour and they skipped on the tab -- without my knowledge and it went to a CO status. It was settled eventually for less than the actual balance. Ever since this took place, BoA has continued to denied me on all apps. ALL I tell ya. I've tried every angle with the latest effort of getting a virgin america card in hopes BoA acquires the portfolio.
Question is now, do I keep the virgin america? Will it be acquired by BoA? I've met the spend for the bonus thus far so that's covered.
I can tell ya, I'm quite happy!
Made me do a take from the pepsi commercial -- this is must be how CreditCuriousity felt when he got approved for a Citi card

Way to go Ysettle4,
Congratulations on your BoA approval! ;-) I am glad to hear that you did not give up on them, and apparently they have not given up on you as well. Now that's wassup!

Way to go Ysettle! Probably a pretty similiar feeling although never had an Ex or myself burn citi, just took me forever for them to warm up to me and my profile. I have another Citi post coming soon in the approval section near you.. Have they ever started to embrace me now lol.... Glad to hear of a nice approval amount and a GREAT apr! Happy for you!

Indeed and thank you. Talk about persistence, I think I had roughly 8 INQs previously piled up over the years -- all denials of course
