The Amazon and the prime cards are considered co branded cards.

The 5/24 rule is relaxed on the Amazon cards, and yes underwriting on their core cards is more stringent.

You scraped in just under the wire. I am fairly sure that the only reason it slipped to approval is because Amazon was vouching for you. Normally Chase would not like cutting so close to the edge but on the Amazon cards they are willing to be more lenient. The core products are definitely much harder to get and the co-branded airlines are only slightly easier. Chase offers the option for CLi's later on as your reputation improves as the key is to be in the system first. Amazon likes to vouch for their customers to at least get the minimum because they like repeat clients. Most airlines will want to see better loyalty first so you will need to garden for that idea to work.
Congratulations on your Chase Amazon approval! Chase will warm up to you with time. They approved $500 on my first card with them and I have since gotten two additional Chase cards and SP CLIs on each of them.
