Hi Fico Family,
I have been in the rebuilding process for a few months now after coming out of a brutal and long divorce. Mainly I have been working on bringing down utilization from upper 60s to below the theshold of 29% (next goal is below 9%). So today I said, what the heck lets check for any pre-qualifications. So I checked Discover first and there were two for the Discover IT card and the Discover Chrome. I applied for the Discover IT and was approved for $1600.00 SL, I then went over to the Amex website and was approved for Gold Delta SkyMiles for 1k SL limit. This was very exciting for me as I have never owned an Amex or Discover. These limits are modest but I am so grateful and I know with stellar and responsible usage they will increase.
I am not sure what credit reports were pulled as I have yet to see an alert on my FICO and I currently subscribe to the ultimate package that provides monitoring for all three bureaus.
Current overall utilization - 29%
Fico Scores
Equifax - 632
Transunion - 617
Experian - 645
Baddies -
3 collections with Equifax, two accounts are the same debt, same CA, just double the amount (in the process of disputing to correct this reporting, once correct will PFD)
4 collections with Transunion - the same double debt from Accelerated Financial Services.
1 collection on Experian
No prior relationship with Amex or Discover.
I applied for these cards because I needed prime accounts in my wallet to have an overall better credit profile. I currently own a capital one quicksilver, capital one secured, amazon prime store card, credit one. So the Amex and Discover will be a nice addition.
Thank you Fico Forum Family! If it wasn't for all the good info in this community I would be lost on my rebuild journey.
Thank you, defintely builds up some confidence to keep going!
