First credit cards in years!

Re: First credit cards in years!

Surely! It's nothing crazy. Capital One Platinum (300), Captal One Quicksilver One (300) and just yesterday I had work done on my car at firestone to the toll of 850 bucks (vomits!!) But I was approved for a $1000 card there so it hurt a little less. Key is to just keep that utilization down, charge and make frequent payments to utilize the AZEO method, and go from there. The firestone card I charged $250 on, that will by my "except one" during the 6 months interest free period.

Re: First credit cards in years!

Congrats.. ignored my mess for years to the point I'm now eligible again for cards because it's been 7+ years so just got my 3 last year as well. lol. Feels great.

Not sure what you're talking about with the 2k rent though... I have no interest in being a home owner and having a mortgage anytime soon but I don't pay 2k in rent..  Maybe um make your 2 kids share a room? Lol

Re: First credit cards in years!

Lol tough out here on long Island. Currently renting a 2 br house (kids share a room already lol) I think renting sucks just because you're giving you're money away. At least when you own, your money goes to your house, your investment etc. Plus, you can do whatever you want to it. Not that I would change anything in the house I've been renting, but it would ve nice to have no "rules" per se. To each his own, congrats on your rebuild as well!

Re: First credit cards in years!

Lol ok Long Island, yeah I've heard that about living there. I think the tolls alone would kill my credit.

Yeah, that's true about renting and rules.. I couldn't deal with being told I can't have another dog or something. I guess buying a house or condo is great if you truly found the place you want to setle in for a while. Some of us are all over the place until we figure it out. Lol.

Re: First credit cards in years!

Congrats! You definitely want to check out the various Cap One messages including the Cap One Upgrade and the various steps program. Just my 2 cents - use your Platinum and QS1, but PIF before your statement date. Cap One had promised me $250 in steps CLI, but this habit got me double the CLI.

Re: First credit cards in years!

Thanks guys! A little update i was looking around on the forums about CLI outside of the steps program, figured I'd give a request to see what would happen. My first card went up $100 only after 2 bill cycles! From where I was to now, I couldn't be happier. My FICO 8 just updated and I'm officially 200 pts up in 11 months! Got a goodwill letter out to capital one to try to remove a string of 4 late payments 2 years ago, hopefully that comes through too.
