I think it's time for the garden

5 week spree:

Chase Freedom - Approved

One week later:
Capital One Quicksilver - Approved
Discover It - Approved

2 or more weeks after:
Citi Double Cash - Approved
Amex Blue Cash Preferred - Approved (Yes!!!!)

Good stopping point, but Chase Sapphire Preferred - Rejected

4 days later Capital One Venture - Rejected, considering calling Executive Office for a recon, but otherwise I'm done for a couple years. Got the cards I want now and more than exceeded expectations. Gardening is such sweet sorrow, would really like one good travel card, but just not worth all the hits or more than 2 failed apps.

Re: I think it's time for the garden

wow, that's awesome!

I just got Quicksilver and DC myself... I wanted a Discover and Amex as well but I don't know how that would reflect on my credit score... are sprees like that hurtful to the credit score?

If you don't mind sharing, could you please tell us/me if your score changed significantly after all this?

Re: I think it's time for the garden

I was 681 equifax, 654 transunion and 688 experian for fico 8 scores.

Prior to this, I only had a secured cap one and a credit union unsecured with low limits and a jcpenney that I app'd for in November. I have not seen those scores change yet and I think they only reflect the Chase Inquiries, Discover It, and Capital One. My credit karma fako scores have tanked 11 points on Transunion and 8 points on whatever the second one they use is and they still have me around 710.

I'm glad that the Freedom was the first on the list and I'll definitely be waiting 2 years now.

Only 2k.

Freedom 3k
Discover It 5k
Quicksilver 10k
Citi DC 1.5k
Amex BCP 2k

A bit low but I'm fine with it.

Re: I think it's time for the garden

congrats. yeah gardening will do you justice. i recommend at least 9-12 months (or until you're around 700) if you want a good travel card. it gives you plenty of time to research it and find the best one for you. btw the venture isn't a good "travel card". just FYI Smiley Wink
