I got a pre-qual mailer from BBVA a couple weeks ago for their ClearPoints Visa. I'd been getting various subprime mailers (Mercury, First Premier, etc) lately, but they've been going in the shred pile since I'm moving past my need for those particular cards. However, this one caught my eye because it came from a stronger institution that is known to be somewhat BK-friendly, and also because it came with an actual reservation code -- not a mark of a guaranteed approval, but perhaps a better indicator than not having one! 
The reward structure was pretty good (quarterly choose-your-own-categories in a "3% 1st cat / 2% 2nd cat / 1% everything else" design), and the promo offers were enticing as well (0% for 18 months on purchases/BTs and $100 SUB for $1500 spend in 90 days). So this afternoon, after ensuring my accounts were reporting as I'd like, I put in my application online, waited the interminable 30 seconds, and... insta-approved for a $1500 SL! With 25.24% APR after the promo period ends, yuck... I'll have to remember to not carry a balance by that point!
I'm looking forward to treating this card well and coaxing it into some CLI growth. Also, I'm pleased to have a backdoor into PNC once that merger is complete later this year... I've got a PNC branch down the street, so that'll be handy to have some history with them in the future.
