I joined Langley FCU this past weekend. Paid the $5 to open a savings account.
Instant membership approval. Open membership to all. They pulled ChexSystems.
Just like other myFICO members have stated, this is the easiest and fastest
credit union I've ever joined. I set up online banking and opened a checking account.
No funding requirement necessary, but I decided to put in $25 anyway.
I also applied online for their low interest card (Platinum Select VISA).
Approved for $5,000 @Anonymous% APR (range is 7-18%). Equifax FICO 8 hard pull with
an approval score of 691. Hard pull good for 30 days. Cash advance amount is
100% of the limit at the same APR. Average age of accounts: 3 years 6 months.
Age of Oldest Account: 11 years 9 months. 35k income (used retirement income
only, not our household income of 100k+). Discharged BK13 is still on my EQ file,
but it's due to fall off in Dec 2020 so I should get a nice score boost then.
Some food for thought: Langley's personal loan rates start at 9%,
but the Platinum Select VISA rate starts at 7%. The super friendly
Langley financial rep I spoke with said you need a mid-700 EQ8 to qualify
for the lowest APR, but conceivably a cash advance on this card can be
cheaper than their personal loan (7% versus 9%). How cool is that??!!!
In addition, the Langley rep also stated that I can call back in 6 months
to request a lower rate for this card/CLI. So in my case, I'm hoping to reduce
my 11% starting rate to as close as 7% as possible. I have nothing but great
things to say about Langley FCU. If they are on your radar, give them a shot!
Thanks for the data points and congratulations.
Congratulations!!!
