Macy's CLI $300 --> $2,500

After recently getting approved for the AMEX Gold Card, I decided to try to get SP CLI's on my Macy's and Discover It Student Card. Both were approved in May 2022 so it still a little soon (instead of the recommended 6 months which would be November).

Macy's Online Application: SL: $300 asked for $2,200 increase to $2,500. Instant approval.

Discover Online Application: SL: $500 Filled out form, 7-10 day letter, (most likely denial).

DP:

$280 spend on Macy's card on 1 purchase.

>$2,000 spend on Discover card since June, paid in full with first two <10% util, one 24% and 36% util cut off at statement and always Pay in Full before due date. I plan to use this card a bit less for the next couple of months and see if that has any effect.

I'm looking foward to retrying both in December again with lower utilization across the board.

Probably left some on the table with Macy's and I got the same msg from Discover couple of months ago and then they give 2K CLI few days later!

When you ask for a Macy's CLI, ask high,

as in $8-$10K ..they will counter offer what they are willing to give you.

Do they also counter online applications or is it better to call in? (I didn't use to be able to fill out the CLI form online but now I can).

I always did online. Grew two Macy's cards to $25K each...Cards #1 & #2

Then they upgraded the store only card to Amex
