Okay, so I have been lurking this board for the last two years and this is my first post to the community. While many people here have inspired me to take charge of my credit, after filing a Ch7. A couple of rebuilding journey I have followed are: Pizza1, Ddemari, and Ron1. So I thought it would be cool to share my story with Chase, since this is one of the creditors many seem to not have the ability to get back into their good graces. So, here are my specifics:
-Ch7 discharge in 2009
-I did not start rebuliding until two years ago (I know, bad decision)
-I have great credit since the discharge, minus one paid tax lien from 2011
So, I decided to pull the trigger on the Marriot Rewards Visa from Chase. Of course, I received the 7-10 day message. So, based on the advice of the wonderful people on this board, I immediately called the recon number. The representative was a bit dry initially. She immediately informed me my app was denied based on a reporting BK. I then asked for a recon and she obliged. After answering several questions about the BK, she mentioned there was a Chase card included in the BK. Crazy, but I totally forgot about this card and I owed $6k on it. I felf like an idiot, and thought I was going to be denied. But she asked questions about my current employment and I advised her that I had a 9 month cash reserve for emergencies. She put me on hold for several minutes and came back on the line and stated she was pleased with how I have managed my credit and usage since the BK and she was going to recommend my app for a $5k approval. However, it needed to be approved by a senior underwriter. Nine days later (today), I received a call from Chase fraud protection to verify information from my application. After sending a verification code to my phone, HE APPROVED MY APPLICATION!!! My new MR Visa shows on my Chase page as of today. So, I just wanted to share this with those who are working to get back in the good graces with Chase. It is totally doable! I will start sharing my other recent succeess here, as well to help anyone I can.
Thanks again to all of you who allowed me to be a creeper on this forum - this place rocks! I will work on getting my account profile to look at cool of most of yours!
P.S. For those interested, they pulled TU (729) and EX (703). I also have a Barclay Arrival+, Banana Rep Visa, and potentially a Venture success story to share. Those will come later in the week. Stay tuned..
Yes, I am well within the 5/24 rule. I have been in the garden for two years and this will my my third card approval since leaving the garden. I am such a happy camper right now! Thanks for myself and many others on the boards more saavy, as it relates to rebuling their credit!
