So as you guys know I recently applied for the Amex EDP to do some Balance transfers. was approved for 6K but I was not aware you can only use a certain amount for BT. So I tried requesting a CLI that was a no go called and talked to someone he basically sounded like he didnt care and just kept saying what I already knew. So today I decided why not try for another one so one a whim I apped for the BCP , app went to verification and was approved for 10K. So they wouldnt increase me but would approve me for another card how interesting...

Issuers are all different and with Amex, its pretty well documented that different products will have different underwriting standards...so on the EDP it may have only given you $6K, you were $10K with the BCP...who knows if you have gone with the BCP first...may have been more.  Regardless those are both good approvals.  

More importantly remember that at 61 days you can request a credit line increase up to 3x your current credit line on one of those cards...so the BCP could be 25K-30K in just a 60 days or so...keep in mind that Amex "sometimes" requires POI for credit lines above $25k+.
