I think this ^ ^ ^ is what helped you get that monster SL!
Did you not have a mortgage loan open when you applied?
I had a significant mortgage, so even though higher income, my DTI was much higher than 2%.
*I have heard that Navy FCU is all about DTI also when it comes to approvals and limits.
You might be right - no open mortgage, no.

Can anyone tell me more about Navy? How do I go about getting a CC with them? I don't have any account with them but heard they are good. I currently have accounts with WF, checking and savings but no CC cause I heard they were strict. My Fico 8 is 596 Experian. I currently have a Cap1 secured that's been open 14 months and a QS1 that's been open for 8 months. They both have embarrassing low limits. I'm trying to get another CC and get my credit in check after being a daily drinker for 28 years. Three years sober now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blessings
Welcome to My Fico Forums and a special congrats on the three years sobriety!
First advice on Navy is that you *must* have military affiliation. Unlike others like PenFed and some other credit unions, there is no way to bypass membership requirement by making an outside donation or joining an organization. However, the good news is that affilition is easy to attain for many people. If you didn't personally serve in the military, you can join based on the service of a broad range of family members. (Parents, Grandparents, Spouses, Siblings, Children (including adopted and stepchildren), Grandchildren, Household members)
If you search member forums, there is a TON of info about Navy FCU posted here as they are a Forum Favorite. Just go to the search bar to find threads about all sorts of info about Navy. This thread below has been running for five years and has lots of info (just be advised some of it may be dated.)
Also, more good news about Navy Federal is that they tend to be more lenient with lower scores, "baddies", or thinner files than some lenders. For more information or to join Navy Federal, see:
Congrats on your NFCU Platinum approval and massive SL! Pretty sweet for the 1st card with Navy!
Congrats on the approval and nice SL!

@Aim_High, 3 months is a relationship?
Lol ... well, that's what my last girlfriend said!
Actually, she's my wife now and she didn't even need that long.
She knew a good thing when she saw it.
(Of course, I did too ...)
