NFCU Approved Go Rewards no go on CLI Platinum

Been with NFCU for 9 months figured it was time for a CLI on the Platinum, currently $1000.

Been reading these threads saw that it was better to go for a new card , apped for GoRewards instant approval $15,000.

Still wanted a CLI on the Platinum, requested $10,00 , no max button available tried from 4 different devices 24 hr. Message. Today I get the, not right now email letter in 7-10 days even called a supervisor he said after 13 months you will get an auto review and possibly a soft pull CLI , after that they review monthly.

So I will wait till month 13 and see what happens.  After that I may just app another card and then cancel the platinum.

Clean , Thick report , score Eq. at 693 acording to NFCU Reputation score ( as per NFCU 342 ) I guess they just dont dig CLI’s.

I had a low limit CashRewards card with a $1500 limit. They wouldn't budge on it. So when I was approved for a second card ($10,000 limit) I had them close the CashRewards and move that limit to my second card. 3 months later I applied for the Flagship and that was approved at $15k. If you send them a secure message they should have no problem combining cards.

I was told by csr no they wont move limits and close cards , so I am going to apply fo another card in 12 months and cose the platinum if I don’t see any future  in the platinum.

Congrats Op, nicely done. Navy cards will eventually grow in time. Most of us dont actually want to wait for it lol so we play shuffle the cards. Navy will and does move limits, close cards etc, but its more on a case by case than overall policy. How were you told by phone or sm? If by phone, write a sm and be concise on what you'd like to accomplish. Remember the more time you have being a member the better your chance, also assuming good internal historySmiley Happy

Re: NFCU Approved Go Rewards no go on CLI Platinum

Actually talked to a supervisor supposedly looked it up while I was talking with him, at least I heard him pounding the keys on his keyboard and I talked with a female CSR that told me no moving CL before I spoke with him I have a good Reputation Score with them and I am in no hurry so I will continue to keep on keeping on. My trouble is I go on an app spree every 12 months so as soon as I’m back in the 700’s its to the apps I go.
Got 2 ready for the chopping block also, don’t know how that will affect score.
Thanks to all for your replies !

Wow I’m surprised, I just moved limits and closed one card today with no issues.  I had the CR card that was stuck at $1500 for almost a year.  So combined it with my Amex that has $15K.  Took 10 minutes on the phone and one card closed the other at $16,500.  I even originally sent them a secure message asking if it could be done and they said yes they move limits and that’s when I called because I wanted to speak with someone directly to avoid the closing of the wrong card because that would be my luck lol

oh and HUGE congrats on the GoRewards approval!

Re: NFCU Approved Go Rewards no go on CLI Platinum

it also has alot to do with your score.  when i had a low equifax 600's score every time i private messaged them it was always no we don't combine limits. when i checked in nov and my fico9 said 707 i sent another one and not only did they combine my platinum and cash rewards, i got a cli on my other platinum(yes i did have 3 cards now only 2) they increased my cloc and gave me a personal loan to boot. so i believe it is all score.

same with penfed   exact same thing only with penfed  same day. cli on promise, cloc, personal loan  when in 2 years previous they always told me to pound sand.  also equifax=50 inq. trans=49 inq. exp=48inq no bull. inq matters but only to a point. it is all about score score score

Re: NFCU Approved Go Rewards no go on CLI Platinum

Not too sure about a 707 as opposed to a 693 , Fico considers 670-739 Good. Again squeaky clean report oldest account 25 years. I got the GoRewards with virtualy the same score maybe 6-7 points higher. Check   crys12065 scores in his DP , not 700 and he just did this on the 30th of this month. They either do this or they don't and from what I read I would say I just got the wrong CSR I might try over the weekend. I will keep you posted. Thanks.....Sarge

Re: NFCU Approved Go Rewards no go on CLI Platinum

My FICO 9 with NFCU is only 599 so I’m pretty sure it’s not score related. Could be related to their internal scores but either way I think you should call back and speak with someone else. You might get a different answer. Good luck Smiley Happy
