I've been lurking for the last few years and occasionally viewing posts of interest. I recently received an 'invitation' to apply for NFCU's CashRewards credit card. I have been denied twice in the past for this card. The 'invitation' was for 3% for CB for the first 6 months and 1.5% thereafter. Lately, there have been approvals for this card with less than stellar stats (no insult intended to those individuals) which convinced me to take a chance. I was prepared for what would likely be another awesome denial. However, I was approved for $10K/18%/No Annual Fee.
My stats at the time of app are as follows:
Member since 2009
Current Income - $120K/Yr
Paying Mortgage
Fico8 - 629 Transunion
Bankcard8 - 597
Bankcard 9 - 578
AAOA - 4 Yrs 1 Mo
90% Utilization
2 Late payments in the last 8 months
2 Collections (Paid, 3 Yrs old)
To me, this is an anomaly. I didn't believe the approval, so I called Member Services and they verified everything I read on my application. My gamble paid off and I intend to cultivate a better relationship with NFCU. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I was elated at the approval and couldn't help writing a novel about it.
