Navy FCU 3rd Card Approved

I have another Navy Federal DP.

In a previous post, my DW applied for Platinum Visa (FICO TU 720) and was approved for $25k @ 7.49%. She has no prior relationship with Navy Federal. So I questioned the rationale for her to get a better rate than me (~12% on 2 cards). I called and the CSR could not give me a good answer and CSR could not reduce my current rates. Then I got thinking that I should apply for my 3rd card to see if I can get the best rate. I have $0 balance on $25K CL cashRewards (2013) and $0 balance on $25K CL Platinum MC (2015), $32K balance on $35K auto loan (2018). BK7 D/C 2011, no other baddies, Util 30%. TU score is 720.

DJ Bobby Shazam: Approved for Platinum Visa $7,900 @ 10.49%. It is not their best rate but lower than my current 2 cards. I wish it was a SP because I would have likely declined the offer. Oh well, there is a 0% BT on this card so that is a positive I guess.

FICO 08 JUL23: TU 850; EQ 846; EX 843. Clean since BK7 D/C 6/2011.

Well I am not sure if I am happy or not. I need to take a shot of Single Malt Scotch and flip a coin. I was hoping for the 7.49% APR actually. My DW received 7.49% on her first app to NFCU. I really do not need any more available credit as I am over $250K. I am still deciding if the hit to my AAOA is worth the increase in credit. I did take advantage of the 0% BT so maybe it is worth it.

Congratulation’s on your 3rd CC with NFCU. I get it that it’s disappointing about the %. But you have 2 25k limit cards with them. That’s nothing to sneeze at. Most Americans only dream of that. Enjoy your 0% BT nonetheless. And have a wonder Christmas 🎄.
