Thanks, @AJC!  Yes, I've learned that "relationships" do mean a lot to most lenders.  I'm planning to push some money through my new cards and banking accounts to build more history and trust with both PenFed and Navy FCU in the next few months.  Set the stage for some huge growth in the couple of years.  They're both lenders I plan to keep around for the long-haul.

Yes, I shopped around extensively last year at banks and credit unions looking for the best permanent rates.  Of the large lenders, nobody beat Navy FCU!!  There were some smaller credit unions that offered lower rates but most were regional and geofenced, or else I had concerns about the customer service I could expect on the account.  I was also concerned about teaser rates that wouldn't last.  Navy seemed like the best of both worlds with a great rate yet large enough and stable enough to not make me question their reputation or service or their long-term rates.

I know, right?   The rate is killer indeed.  The SL is par for Navy's approval for new members on a first card, maybe even on the generous side, but the important thing is I know it will grow with them.
