Hi! Another long time lurker coming out of the shadows to share my DP’s re Navy Federal. Based on all the info I’ve gleaned from this community, NFCU was surely destined to be part of my rebuild. (I will compose a separate, more detailed post on my rebuild since bk at a later date.)
Ch7 - BK filed October `19, discharged January `20
FICO 8 Scores:
EX - 700
EQ - 710
TU - 690
Inquiries 6/12/24 mos.
EX: 9/14/22
EQ: 10/15/27
TU: 6/7/24
*Wasted lots of HP after discharge…before I found My FICO forum. 🙄 Many will drop off by April of this year.
Total CL: $130K
Util: 0 (PIF monthly)
AoC: 2yrs
Only negative reporting is BK7
Opened membership (brother is 30yr Army vet) with NFCU 1/26 (no hard pull). CSR who signed me up on the phone wanted to take app for cc, I said no, but tried the prequal with her on phone; only option was secured nRewards, which I declined. Completed membership, hung up. Went to NFCU online and applied for the Cash Rewards and got the 24-48hr pending review. About an hour later, APPROVED! $7100/APR of 16.99%
They pulled TU, Vantage9 Score 725
Since I’ve learned so much from the people here who choose to share and help others, I figured it was my turn. Thank you all. You’re an incredible community. 🙏🏽
btw: DH signed up for membership yesterday, app'd for cash rewards visa as soon as acct opened and was approved an hour later for $7100/16.99% APR NavyFed rocks!
Congratulations on your NFCU CR Approval and Welcome to The Navy Family
@M_Smart007 Thank you! My FIL was a Navy Lt so this feels good for both DH and me. ☺️🇺🇸
CONGRATS !!!!!
How in the world did you get 700 + scores already? My bk7 dc was 12/2019 one month before you and ive made only the high 600's.
Sweet, grats on joining NFCU and getting the Visa approved as well! Welcome to myFico
@SUPERSQUID @Thank you! I'm amazed myself! It's through loads of info from folks here on where and when to apply with my bk reporting. e.g I knew nothing about PenFed, now I have 3 cc from them. I'll do my bk7 rebuild post soon. 🙏🏽☺️
Congrats on the Approval!!!!
@gdale6 @Thank you!🙏🏽
That's terrific!! Congratulations on your NFCU Approval!! 🎉🥂👏
CookieMonster1,
Congratulations on joining NFCU! They are definitely an awesome CU especially with those that are rebuilding from a bankruptcy. Excellent job on rebuilding your score. Keep doing what you're doing.
Every 6 months you can call in directly to the credit card department to see if your are eligible for an APR reduction. When I opened my cash rewards card, it was 14.9%. Six years later, it's 9.65%, and so far I've been lucky, it's been no HP.
