Nordstrom has been great and I barely use the card. I will be using it now. I started with a $1000 limit on the retail card just two years ago. I've used it a handful of times and paid it down to zero immediately. My limit was increased to $2000 only six months later. Then I requested another increase six months after that and received a limit of $5,000. I've never spent more than a few hundred dollars at a time. A couple months ago, I called to request another increase and they denied based on the fact that I have not used it in a year. That day, I went on Nordstrom rack and bought a $35 shirt. A week later, I received a letter saying that I would be converted to a Rewards Visa in August. I called the number a couple days ago to check the status. The very first thing I heard on the automatic system was that my account is eligible for an increase to $7,000. Of course I accepted. The lady advised me that my card would be arriving next week.

Congratulations on your excellent progress and enjoy your new card, OP! Well done.

A few observations:

1) Retail overall is seriously in the red and going downhill extremely fast without a parachute.

2) Nordstrom has consistently gone out of their way to reach out to customers and try to deliver better customer service (i.e., returns policies, etc) than other retailers, as well as delivering good products at reasonable prices. When items go on sale at Nordstrom, they are consistently offered at a lower price than at other stores.

3) I believe that the recent shift myfico members have reported on the board of Nordstrom generous CLI's early in the game (often after 2 months of having the card!), and upgrades to Visa represents an effort on Nordstrom's part to keep loyal consumers and acquire new ones. Well done, Nordstrom.

I love my Nordstrom Visa (mine started out its life as a Visa), and really like Nordstrom as a store in addition.

The only thing I would change about Nordstrom is to get rid of Topshop. In stores, there seems to be an extremely large presence of Topshop items, representing at least half of the store. Topshop is out of England and often does not represent the styles or fabrics that American consumers normally go for.

Congrats! I'm hoping for the same thing for my wife and I with this card. I started at $1500 and went to $2500 in two months. She started at $300 and went to $1500 in same amount of time. End goal is the rewards visa

Congratulations! Also, the conversion is NOT a new acct, they will just change the number, etc on your existing card with the CRA! I love my Visa!!

I got nordstrom store card back in June sl 1000, yester 2 month date exactly, called said I wanted to purchase 700 and wondered when statement cut, I wanted to pif b4, I was told my closing date. On the off chance I asked when I could be considered for cli, she said between 2 and 4 mos, I asked if she could try, 2 min later, approved 150% increase to $2500, asked for visa, still no. Anyway so excited and it does appear they are a little looser for cli. Will try again in nov/dec.

You'll get it soon enough I bet. My scores were in the trash when it happened for me (600-650), so not exactly sure why they did it. I never used the Nordstrom card either. Maybe 1 or 2 purchases per year on Nordstrom Rack. When I aksed for credit line increase a few months back, they told me that I didn't use the card enough and was declined for that reason. A few weeks later is when I received the letter that I'd be converted to Visa in August. Now that my credit is on the up and up (685-720s), I'm hoping in a few months I'll be able to get another CLI.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think for the Visa you'd have to re-apply and qualify for it--they don't do the upgrades anymore. I got my store card last February before I knew they stopped doing the upgrades.
