Well, Ive been building my credit since I turnes 18... So for five years... I managed to get and stay in the mid 600's... Then came across this forum in the past year and learned even more than I already knew. So I've managed to pay off a lot of debt to lower util, as well as limiting hps, lowering aprs, and gaining prime accounts. I'm at about a 700 fico now. It's just nice to know that I have great credit if I need it. After that cli, I'm at about $85k in revolving credit.
Thanks guys :-)
did you have bad marks on your credit? mid 600's seems kinda low if you didn't have anything bad, usually you can build 700+ within a year if properly managed. maybe because of high utility?

It was high util and two fraud accts. Got the fraud accts removed and lowered util from about 40% in 2009 to like <10% today. I actually paid off all of my cards at one point LOL. I actually still have one more fraud acct on my report from like six years ago; I wasn't even 18 when the acct was opened, so idk why the CBs even allow that to be reported. I was dumb enough to pay it though; it was before I knew to dispute; I just paid it to make it go away; it was a $280 TXU bill. But paying admits that it is yours. I might work on getting that off too. My aaoa was pretty low then too, but is better now. Breaking 700 has been so extremely difficult!!!
try disputing it with CFPB it's consumer financial protections bureau they just started working with credit on Sept 31st. People have gotten great luck with stupid cases like you mentioned. If it was opened in your name before you were even 18 it was their fault for extending credit to your name.

many many people have had success where Experian, Transunion, and Equifax are being idiots.
