Re: OMG!! NFCU approval!!

Congrats, OP! Navy is AMAZING, isn't it? And so generous!

Wow, thats amazing! Congrats! I wish I could get an in with NFCU but I don’t have an account as I have no military relatives 🥺

You can get in if you have a parent or grandparent who was in the military, even if they are already deceased. (I had ruled out Navy for a long time assuming that it had to be current, living relatives.) My dad qualified me (he passed away years ago) but I could have gotten in through my grandfather as well, who died before I was born. I wasn't asked for proof of any of this when I called in to join Navy. (I got my checking/savings account first—tried for a card later.) Proof of military service is available online should I need it. (They haven't yet ever asked, though.) If the family member served a while ago (like in the '50s or before, I believe) it's really easy to obtain.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the same situation... wish I could be eligible but my family is from another country so my grandfather served in the navy of his home country. I guess I'll live vicariously through all of you lol
