And no @Anonymous , I was not aware of any offers from PenFed on this card. I got lots of mail about refi on autoloans and such (which I thought was funny given I don't have an auto loan), various email offers, and of course the coveted TurboTax offer 
but that's about it! I think I mainly decided to ask for the CLI because the time that had elapsed (12+ months) and my EQ Fico 9 had jumped up about 40+ points in the last year.

Those kinds of emails are bulk emails anyway which are sent to every cardholder than specific to each person's situation. Secondly, some data points suggest that after submitting a request for CLI, some people do see an automatic offer on their account. However, keep it in mind that some people never see that offer. All I can say is that regularly use of cards surely get you CLI, with or without any offer, but I am not talking about showing a charge for a chewing gum here and there..lols

Oh, cool, I didn't know that about a subsequent automatic offer! I'll definitely keep my eyes open for that and update if I see one.
Also, I didn't know that about volume of use specifically with PenFed CLIs, but that's good to know also. The SUB and cash back was good motivation, so I had some heavy use for awhile and then scaled it back in recent months.
