Penfed Recon Succes!!! Crazy SL!!!

What!!!!!!

So guys, i applied for Penfed Promise Visa and was denied. I reconned on the phone and was denied... So i decided to send an e-mail...

I sent an e-mail 2 days ago and heard back today. The rep was very nice and said after looking over my application again she was able to approve me for $15k!!!!

I was shocked!!!!

She than said my name was too long for the credit card so they would be removing my middle name hahaha.

Also, i was denied for too many inquiries and too many new accounts.

Data points:

Equifax Myfico: 728

AAoA: 2 years

3% Utilization

No Derog

$65k income

25 inquiries, 1 in the last 6 months.

Surprised they ignored all of those inquiries in the end.

Congrats on the monster SL! I have heard that when receiving/sending emails regarding service, people at times listen and want to know what's up. In some situations, it has worked out very well! Those customer service surveys at times have a big impact on the revenue/customer relations/retention side so who knows.

Yup the csr lady told me that they are very recon oriented. 

How did i overcome inq and too many new accounts?

I just told them that I understood why they denied me but if they can look at my score, utilization, no derogs, and payment history instead of focusing on the inquiries and new accounts. I said that i wouldn't even mind starting low as I would like to just start building a relationship with Penfed. I asked them to give me a chance and to look over my credit report one more time and they would see that I'm a good borrower.

I went into more detail but thats pretty much it.

Awesome job , especially overcoming the 1 inq in 6 months, that's brutal.

If they looked past all the inquiries and accounts for most of us and concentrated on how we handle our credit, PF and the world would be a much better place to live in
