Penfed loves me, hates me, loves me (but still hates me secretly)

I've been a Penfed member for a couple years, never get any offers, have a couple savings accounts never really put that much in them beyond the minimums.  Everytime in the past I apped for a CC I was denied every which way, I'm pretty sure I received an approval on gold in the past then it was denied.   My credit scores always hovered in the 650 range.   Fast forward to this past week, my Equifax score jumped to the 750+ range I so I decided to app to a Penfed CC again.   I apped for the Visa Gold and had my credit reports locked.  Got the mesage that I had to unlock my Equifax and then let them know that it was unlocked in the portal.   I unlocked with Equifax, updated Penfed and then almost instantly went to "You've been approved for $12,500 @ 16.50".   I was like wow finally I'm in and couldn't believe it!!!

I also apped for the PCR, after opening a checking account, thinking the 2% cash back would be great and trying to maximize the hard pull.  The app went to review, and was ultimately denied.   The letter on my Visa Gold stated my fico was 759, guess it wasn't high enough for them.   I also apped for the Visa Platinum, which went to review, then they asked me for drivers license, utility bill, social after all that they denied that as well.   

Fast forward another day I get an email that there's imporant information on my Visa Gold application.  I see they posted a "Risk Based Pricing Adjustment" letter in the application status page.  Then my Visa Gold app went from "Complete/Approved" to "Pending Review" for several days.   I was waiting to get the denial on that, but ultimately it went to approved at the same amount and the same rate.    So I guess I'm good even though I never recieved an email letting me know offically I was approved.   I do see the card in my account after another almost week.   I plan on taking advantage of the 0% balance transfer apr.

Congrats! Got a little greedy? I say it many times in Rebuild. Once you pass the 700's. Approvals happen more often. Got your training wheels with them now. Use it well and more will come intime.

Yeah, I was thinking I got a little greedy and they were gonna pull back the Gold Approval  I've seen people here go from approved to denied.  Just happy on the approval and a foot in the door with their CCs.

Congrats on your PenFed Visa Gold Card approval . . . glad you were finally approved after all that. Almost 2 years ago, I applied for a PenFed card and it went ot review and the requested continued inofrmation and I got frustrated and cancelled the application.
