Ok so my dad needs dental work ASAP we went to the dentist and it looks like it will cost $6,950(rounded) for the entire process his insurance will cover 40% so it looks like we will need to take care of $3920 or somewhere in the 3ks so the lady at the dentist told us that he was pre-approved for the smilegeneration cc. I told her that we will apply at home just to avoid the embarrasing(Oh sorry it looks like it was denied and you should receive letter saying why blah blah) So once I got home I applied for him and he was approved for $5100! as soon as acct was set up I pressed the CLI button and it came back with $6000! SO since this card will cover for his dental work, should we(joint acct) close carecredit? I dont think we will need this card afterall if somehting were to happen to my pets we can rely on our major CCs. SO close or keep open CareCredit?
In my opinion it's always a good idea to close joint accounts (can never be too safe). As you are trying to establish history though, how old is that account?
Well the joint acct is under my dads and my name I dont find the need of having this card also for Living Spaces since I have wells fargo that is actually under my name.
Don't believe comenity offers joint accounts.
i would leave carecorded it open for now, they will auto close it for inactivity after a year or so otherwise.
Congrats to your father
Good rule of thumb is to leave accounts that have no AF open.
the smile generation was applied for under my dads name only. I just thought it woul be less on me and dad if closed care credit and living spaces.

+1. If anything, the unused CL on the CareCredit should help your UTIL a lot. Leave it open and SD it.
I'll be apping for CareCredit very soon, as I suspect that I'll require a lot of dental work that may not be fully covered by my insurance.
Thanks gdale @sunrise earth, I guess what Ill do is have them charge most of it on smilegeneration and only charge $500 to care credit just so that it can report positive payments, AHHH what was I thinking I said I was going to garden these accts for a whole year starting the 15th of this month. Ok nevermind about closing! But mt dad did get a nice CL on his smile generation. Time to make an appointment!
congrats on limit
thanks alvon!
