Stepped out of Garden for 2 Approvals and Picked Up AMEX CLI while out!

So, about a week ago I stepped out of the Garden last week and joined Navy Federal thinking it would require a HP to join.  Since I was out and thought I had incurred a HP I went ahead and applied for the Cash Rewards Visa and was approved for a $10K SL.  Again, while out, I applied for the TD Ameritrade Client Rewards Visa (my Scottrade account was recently converted to TD Ameritrade after the buyout) and received the 2-week notice.  As it turned out, there was no HP for the NFCU membership, but there was for the CC app.  Smiley Surprised

So after a few days (Monday) I called TD Ameritrade to check on the app status and they said it was a decline (automated), so I asked for a manual review.  The very nice CSR spoke to me and made notes of what I wanted considered by the reviewing loan officer.  I was told it would take 7-9 days to review and I would receive a letter letting me know of the result and if approved a welcome letter/packet.  Well, this afternoon I recieved an email saying I'd been APPROVED! It did not give me the SL or APR, so I'll update when I receive this information.

Also while partying out of the Garden I requested a CLI on my AMEX BCE and as mentioned in a previous post, was approved from $6K to $18K.  Yes, I could've done that without leaving the Garden (Thank you AMEX!) but I was having fun!  Now my butt is back in the Garden! Smiley Happy

What were yours scores at time of app? What was the initial TD denial for and how did you recon (considerations, etc)?

Re: Stepped out of Garden for 2 Approvals and Picked Up AMEX CLI while out!

All Scores were between 709 and 720. Experian was pulled and it was at 713. I have about 3-6 Inq on each in the past 12 months and an income of right at $100K.

The initial denial was “automated” according to the CSR, the likely culprits are 2 30-day lates from 2011 (dropping off in May & June), a paid Charge-off from 2015 I acquired in a divorce division of property, and 3 new accounts that are about 8 months old and 6 new accounts that are just over 2 months old. When I called I merely asked if I could have the denial reconsidered and she said she would have a manual review done since it was an automated denial. Positive factors discussed:
1 current car loan and 7 prior with no missed payments; 14 years of student loan repayments with no missed payments; current revolving trade lines all current and paid in full each month and most with multiple payments per month; that I’m a “new” TD Ameritrade customer with a funded brokerage account that they acquired in the Scottrade buyout, and even with my many new tradelines, my AAoA is still around 4 years because of some “seasoned” cards that I’ve had for quite a long time.

Hope that helps a little.
