Good advice but I think I'm OK since I'm brand new. I tried 10k today was successful but not with 20k. Tomorrow maybe start at 15k and work down.
I too would be careful playing with the "check your spend power" button. Especially being a new account and you constantly pushing it to see how much you can charge...can raise flags.

Exactly the point. You don't have a charge card history with AmEx do you? They just see someone they don't have a history on trying to see if they spend $20k. Hence the concern.
