It's been just over 4 months since my fiancé and I ordered a Sleep Number bed and got a shiny new credit Sleep Number card with an $8.5 SL. Since I found out recently that Synchrony does give CLIs after 4 months (and maybe less?), it seemed like a good time to ask for a CLI a few days ago.
After calling Synchrony about what to include for income for myself and my fiancé, I gave the operator our total combined incomes. Within seconds, our credit limit jumped from $8.5K to $12K.
The card was at about 92% utilization when we opened it, and through making larger-than-required payments and the CLI, we're now at about 57%. (We're on a 3-year 0% interest plan, but having high utilization on one card is far from ideal, so we're trying to pay that down quickly.)
Synchrony is somewhat unique in that they use TU VantageScore 4.0 instead of FICO. My fiancé's TU VantageScore 3.0s are about 650. Mine is currently 681, and my TU VantageScore 4.0 is 672. By contast, my TU FICO 8 score is 720. (My VantageScores always seemed to either be higher than or close to my FICO 8 scores until earlier this year, when I went on a spree.)
Edit: This is also our first card with a CL above $10K! I'm looking at Visa Infinite cards like Venture X or Altitude Reserve down the road, and having this might help with that goal.
congrats on the cli
Congrats on your $3.5K increase!
They have a mattress card? Congrats!
I found out recently that it's technically a "Synchrony Home" card. It can be used as a store card at maybe 200+ national chains and several local stores that have special financing offers, including other mattress stores. Unbelievably, the Synchrony operator told me that it also works at several gas stations.
I'm not planning to make another Sleep Number purchase with it, but I'll probably put a gas purchase on it here and there over time so I can use it to buy furniture at some point! 😂
Congratulations on your Sleep Number CLI!
