So in this month I've dared to ask for CLIs:
Discover IT: $2000 limit raised $400 to $2400. (Frankly I am amazed because I was carrying a little bit of a balance—not too high—on Disco.) It's been a few months since my last CLI with Disco.
Comenity Overstock: About two months since my last CLI. (Then it was raised from $250 to $2250!) This time it went up to $4250. I buy little things on Overstock about every month and pay off immediately!
Navy Federal CU cash Rewards: $1000 to $2000. Soft pull! I got this card in June and asked (and was denied) a CLI in Sept. I thought I'd be conservative this time in my request, since my other Navy card (AMEX) is at $17K and I have a low income. I hope to get the Flagship later and don't want to have all my potential credit "eaten up" yet!
Walmart (Cap 1) store credit card. $500 limit, asked for $1000. I knew it was a long shot. Was denied; they told me something about how "this card is not eligible for an increase." Well, why did they have a feature where I could ask for an increase? Anyway, no harm in trying!
Data Points: 660s-670s FICO 8 scores. Low income, high utilization (69-70%) due to closed cards I'm paying off with a low interest payment plan. A year-old 90-day late is my main baddie (along with the high util).
Congrats!!
Good work, t. You're gaining on it -- Congrats!
Congrats on your success!
Congrats on your CLIs!
Congrats on the limit increases.
If I was in your situation with those FICO scores, I would ask the forum what to do before doing anything further.
You are in a score range where what you want to do may not be the best thing to do. Ask the Forum for advise.
Peace!
