Do you have an existing relationship with USB? It is definitely harder to get in with them without one. But it’s not impossible obviously. I got a USB Cash+ with absolutely NO prior relationship. 

I had an unusual experience. I was denied online instantly. I called to recon, and the CSR said it would go to manual review. A week or so later I got FOUR letters giving me the denial reasons. Then a few days later, I got my USB Siggy Visa LOL. Don’t know what happened or why, but I slipped through the cracks evidently.

Update: yesterday I called in and they said I needed to submit stuff to verify my ID in order to continue processing my app. I sent it in to the email address they provided. 

This morning I happened to go into my email junk folder and there was an email from them postmarked yesterday before i called them.  It says:

“Thank you for applying for a U.S. Bank credit card. We are processing your application; however, we have been unable to verify your identity. To continue processing the application, we must reasonably validate your identity. To do so, we have established an automated self-service tool to simplify the process. Please go to the link provided below on either your mobile device or tablet within the next 10 days and follow the step by step instructions:

If you are unable to submit your verification through your mobile device or tablet, please mail a copy of your driver’s license and social security card to the address listed below.

You may disregard this email if you have already responded to the text or letter we also sent to you regarding this application and need for verification.

If you have any questions or to provide additional information, please call the number listed below. Representatives are available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT. We accept relay calls.

Below are screenshots of what the online verification process looks like. US Bank’s verification website (on my phone’s web browser) used the phone’s cameras to take a picture of the front/back of my ID, and to take a selfie.  And that’s it.

Yes.  It’s not the first time I’ve done something like this (non bank related). I didn’t mind at all. I think they want to match my selfie with the government issued ID I submitted, and then share it with the CIA hehe.

What snapchat filter did you use?

You can’t use your phone’s camera app or a third party app to take the selfie. The US Bank website itself launches the camera app with minimal options, within the phone’s web browser.  All I can do is press the shutter button and accept the photo or retake the photo.
